About Chiang Dao Hut

Chiang Dao Hut is a nature stay and licensed local tour operator based near the foothills of Doi Chiang Dao in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.

We provide peaceful accommodation together with private birding tours, bird photography, guided nature walks and nature-focused hiking experiences.

Our aim is to help guests experience Chiang Dao through small groups, local knowledge, responsible travel and meaningful connections with the natural environment.

Stay Close to Nature

Chiang Dao Hut offers a peaceful base for travellers interested in birds, wildlife, natural landscapes and slow travel.

The property is surrounded by gardens, trees and seasonal nature. Guests may hear birds in the morning, observe butterflies around the garden and enjoy a quieter atmosphere away from busy urban areas.

Our accommodation can be arranged separately or combined with private birding and nature activities.

Private Birding with Guide SunTan

Private birding and bird photography tours are led by Guide SunTan, a licensed local birding guide based in Chiang Dao.

Guide SunTan specializes in birds and regularly works in Chiang Dao and other important birding destinations across Northern Thailand.

Rather than following the same fixed itinerary for every guest, birding plans are adjusted according to:

Birding experience and interests
Target species
Season and recent bird activity
Weather and habitat conditions
Road access and current field conditions
Bird photography requirements

Beginners are welcome, and spare binoculars are available when required.

Wild birds move naturally, so sightings of particular species cannot be guaranteed. Responsible birding and the welfare of birds always come first.

Guide SunTan’s main field of expertise is birds. For broader nature activities, community nature guides may provide additional knowledge and support when appropriate.

Routes are selected according to the season, weather, trail conditions, participant ability and current access requirements. These activities focus on nature observation and learning rather than physically demanding challenges.

Natural conditions change throughout the year.

Bird activity, migration, rainfall, flowering plants, seasonal fungi, butterflies, insects, trail conditions and road access can all affect what guests may experience.
