Join Guide SunTan for a small-group birding journey through Chiang Dao, Doi Ang Khang and Doi Lang West, exploring some of Northern Thailand’s excellent mountain birding areas.

This Join Birding Trip is designed for birdwatchers who would like to share the trip with a few other participants while keeping the group small, comfortable and bird-focused.

The package includes 3 nights accommodation, meals during the birding program, 4WD transportation, birding gear, entrance fees and accident insurance.

With a maximum of only 3 participants, the trip remains flexible and allows plenty of time to enjoy birding in the field.

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN CHIANG DAO | RELAX & EXPLORE

Make your own way to Chiang Dao and check in at the accommodation.

Day 1 is a relaxed arrival day with no fixed birding schedule. It gives you time to settle in, rest after your journey and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Depending on your arrival time, you can take a walk around the accommodation and nearby area, watch birds around the garden, or spend some quiet time at the bird hide when available.

This relaxed first day also allows everyone to be ready for an early start the following morning.

Overnight: Chiang Dao – Private Room

DAY 2 – CHIANG DAO → DOI ANG KHANG

Start early in the morning for our first full day of birding.

We begin around Chiang Dao, visiting selected birding locations according to current bird activity, weather and seasonal conditions.

Later, we travel north towards Doi Ang Khang, with birding continuing at selected locations during the afternoon where time and conditions allow.

The daily plan remains flexible so that we can respond to recent bird activity and make the best use of our time in the field.

Overnight: Doi Ang Khang – Private Room

DAY 3 – DOI ANG KHANG → FANG

Start early for morning birding around Doi Ang Khang, exploring suitable mountain forest, roadside habitats and other productive birding locations.

Birding locations and timing will be selected according to current bird activity, seasonal conditions and weather.

Later in the day, we continue to Fang, where we stay overnight and prepare for an early departure to Doi Lang West the following morning.

Overnight: Fang – Private Room

DAY 4 – DOI LANG WEST → CHIANG DAO

Early departure from Fang for Doi Lang West.

We spend the main part of the day birding at selected locations along Doi Lang West, one of the important mountain birding areas of Northern Thailand.

The route and stops will remain flexible according to current bird activity, weather, road and access conditions.

After birding, we travel back to Chiang Dao, arriving in the evening.

End of Trip: Chiang Dao

The trip will operate once a minimum of 2 participants has been confirmed.

The same price applies to every participant.

Private room accommodation is included for all 3 nights.

Couples or travelling companions who prefer to stay together may request a Twin or Double Room, subject to availability.

SMALL-GROUP JOIN BIRDING

This is a Join Birding Trip, not a private tour.

Participants share the guide, vehicle and birding experience with other birdwatchers.

The group is limited to a maximum of only 3 participants, allowing us to maintain a relaxed, flexible and bird-focused experience.

Unlike a private birding tour, the travel dates and general route are predetermined. However, the daily birding plan remains flexible according to conditions in the field.

FLEXIBLE BIRDING PLAN

Bird activity in Northern Thailand varies throughout the season.

The exact birding locations, timing and daily plan may therefore be adjusted according to:

• Current bird activity
• Seasonal movements
• Weather conditions
• Road and access conditions
• Recent field observations

This flexibility allows us to make the best use of the birding conditions available during the trip.

All birds are wild, and sightings of particular species cannot be guaranteed.

MEETING & FINISHING POINT

Start: Chiang Dao
Finish: Chiang Dao

Participants should arrive in Chiang Dao on Day 1 and check in at the provided accommodation.

Transportation from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao is not included, allowing participants the flexibility to arrange their own arrival according to their travel plans.

Detailed accommodation, meeting point and trip information will be provided after booking confirmation.
