May is one of the most interesting transition periods in Chiang Dao. As the first rains begin to arrive, the forest slowly changes from the dry season into the green season.
During this time, many orchids are still in bloom, including beautiful epiphytic orchids such as Aerides multiflora, with their soft pink flower clusters hanging from old trees in the dry dipterocarp forest.
Along the trails, visitors may also discover newly emerging wild mushrooms, fresh forest scents after rain, and seasonal bird activity from both resident and migratory species.
This changing season creates a special atmosphere for nature lovers, photographers, and visitors who want to experience the quiet beauty of Northern Thailand’s forests.
