Birds at Chiang Dao Hut in February

February is another wonderful month for birdwatching around Chiang Dao Hut. The weather is generally still cool, especially in the mornings, and many winter visitors can still be found in Northern Thailand.

The garden can be particularly interesting when flowers are blooming, attracting sunbirds, leafbirds and other birds searching for nectar and insects.

Birds You May See in February

Some birds you may notice include:

  • Crimson Sunbird
  • Golden-fronted Leafbird
  • Olive-backed Sunbird
  • Oriental Magpie-Robin
  • Red-whiskered Bulbul
  • Black-crested Bulbul
  • Asian Brown Flycatcher
  • Grey-backed Shrike
  • White-rumped Shama
  • Common Tailorbird

A slow walk around the accommodation in the morning can sometimes produce surprisingly good bird sightings.

Bird activity changes naturally according to weather, food availability and seasonal conditions.
